Dear Ingredion grower,
Due to recent events with COVID-19 (corona virus), non-Ingredion people will not be allowed to enter the corn receiving trailer. If you need to contact the graders please use the intercom located beside the stairs going up to the grading office. Please see the attached close up picture of the SmartTalk intercom. Once you are over by the dumping bay there is another SmartTalk intercom near the printer. On a separate note I would like to raise awareness of Identity Preservation/Segregation of the various corn types we process at Kansas City. Recently we have had some incidents of co-mingled grain types being delivered to the plant. Mistakes happen but the goal of this letter is to raise awareness that keeping grain types entirely separate from each other is critical to meeting final quality spec on the starches we produce at Kansas City. Starch that does not meet spec creates significant quality challenges in the plant, rejections with our customers and can cause significant financial losses. As you load trucks, change bins, plant this spring, clean equipment and fill bins next fall please keep Segregation of the various grain types top of mind. Thank you and please reach out with any questions. KC SmartTalk.jpg NKC Specialty Grains Staff |

Plant Procedures – starting today we will begin testing each individual truck load for DON, if you have a load that tests above 8ppm you will be redirected to ADM for unloading. Your corn WILL be accepted, and segregated there, we don't have the ability to segregate loads at the plant to manage for higher levels of DON. For reference, POET is testing all inbound corn and rejecting corn that tests above 7ppm. I know that this will cause some disruption to schedules and possibly some logistical interruptions, but I hope you will see the silver lining that we are still taking/buying the corn with premium, but we just can't segregate and mitigate the issue on site at the plant.

Ingredion Agribusiness manages the supply of corn and the sale of byproducts for the North American starch plants.
Over 90% of Ingredion's corn supply is contract production with area farmers. Ingredion uses over five different corn types such as waxy, high extractable starch dent, and high amylose varieties.
Ingredion corn suppliers are corn producers who consistently delivery above average corn quality. They also track production, varieties planted and crop management data as part of their contracts with Ingredion.
Since Ingredion operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day, on farm storage is an important aspect of bein an Ingredion corn supplier. Low temperature drying, and the ability to segregate different corn types is also very important.
Ingredion also produces wet milling byproducts for the feed industry. These products include corn gluten feed (wet and dry), corn germ, steep water, and corn gluten meal. These products are available from various locations by truck and railcar.
Ingredion can be found in every aspect of your life.
Our products serve to adhere, bind, thicken, protect, strengthen and texturize. We are in the food you eat, the computers you use, the paper on which you write, the floors on which you walk and the vehicles in which you travel. We are in your furniture, skin lotions, hair care products and the casing materials in which all these goods are packaged.
The products we make are not easily recognized by the average consumer because over 95% of our outpus is in essence, material used by our customers as vital ingredients in their finished products.
From corn hybrids to hybrid electronic circuits, from cartons to cars, from health care to hair care, from bottle labels to kitchen tables, virtually every industry makes use of Ingredion's technology and products. Unless you fully explore a manufacturer's process, the role Ingredion plays is not always readily apparent.
The function of an Ingredion product in finished goods can be as subtle as the smooth texture of a cream pie or as substantial as adhesives that hold a garage door together.
The product can be as obvious as the visible lines of glue that seal a shipping case or as delicate as the silky feel of hand cream. It's the binder that unites the fibers in a nonwoven fabric, or it's the smooth surface of printing papers.
| | | 10/2/2012 1:17 PM | | Indy, NKC | Statement on Genetically Modified Organisms (“GMO”)
The following information is provided to support the efforts of our customers to develop and implement an appropriate labeling strategy for products containing Ingredion Incorporated ingredients or additives. In all respects, the ultimate decision on how to identify and label ingredients or additives on food packages remains with our customers. Ingredion and its affiliated companies produce non-GMO and other identity-preserved (“IP”) products derived from corn, oats, stevia, and tapioca/yucca/manioc roots. Customers should contact their local Ingredion customer service representative for information on our IP and non-GMO products and ingredients. With regard to non-identity preserved products, Ingredion’s objective is to produce ingredients that satisfy agreed-upon customer requirements and expectations for quality and that conform with local regulatory requirements. The Company expects its suppliers to use their best efforts to deliver raw materials that have no local regulatory, sales or usage restrictions. As related specifically to the manufacture of high fructose corn syrup, Ingredion supports the position of the Corn Refiners Association, Inc. regarding the use of transgenic varieties.
“ Many beverages use high fructose corn syrup as a sweetener. While the corn used to produce this sweetener may be derived from genetically enhanced varieties, processing of highly refined food ingredients such as high fructose corn syrup removes DNA used to transfer desirable agricultural properties to corn. During HFCS production, DNA is denatured, degraded or removed through successive processing steps including physical separation, heating, purification and filtration. We have reviewed both published literature documenting this process, as well as analyses conducted using today’s most sophisticated detection and quantification procedures. Both literature and current testing indicate that corn DNA cannot be detected in measurable amounts in HFCS. ”
– Corn Refiners Association, Inc.
Like high fructose corn syrup, other sweeteners including dextrose, glucose, corn syrups, glucose solids and maltodextrin, are highly refined food ingredients made by hydrolysis of the starch fraction of corn. Each goes through several processing stages that denature, degrade and remove DNA. For this reason, we believe that, as with high fructose corn syrup, corn DNA is not detectable in measurable amounts in dextrose, glucose, glucose solids or maltodextrin. Note: Nothing herein is intended as legal or regulatory advice, nor should you rely on the information contained in this statement, which is presented solely for your independent consideration, review and verification. The information is presented in good faith as of the date set forth herein, and Ingredion Incorporated assumes no obligation to update this position statement.
